I miss Flash Game sites

Growing up in the early 2000s (I guess we’re still technically in the early 2000’s as 2025 is very early into the millennium) I loved flash game sites. Miniclip, Newgrounds, Andkon, any flash game sites were my home on the internet. The games weren’t that fully fleshed out and most of them I could never beat, but there’s just something about playing a good indie flash game on your web browser that was so exciting.

One genre I was obsessed with was click escape games. Especially Escape The Car, I used to play that over and over again, speedrunning it. Which is kind of weird to speedrun a click escape game because it’s more so memorization than skill. But there was one click escape game I used to play that I literally don’t remember the name of, all I remember is you’re a Duck (I THINK, or there was a duck in it, or maybe there was no duck but I remember a duck), it was very colorful blues and reds and yellows? Almost like a McDonald’s play place. And there was one part where you click something and the outside area fills with water and if you click it again the water goes away, and that’s really all I remember and I wanna play it again so badly because I never beat it and there were no guides for it at the time so if you have even the slightest hint of what that game is please DM me at @TheTalentlessWriter on Instagram because I need to know.

When I think of flash games though the first game that pops into my mind is The World’s Hardest Game. You play as a little red square, top down controls, navigating through blue circles and although I don’t think it’s the hardest game in the world (especially compared to any Souls-like) it was definitley hard. I remember being in 6th grade computer class and anytime we had a break, everyone in class would be playing it. And I was probably the best in my class at it, cause I’m really cool and smart and good at flash games. Just wanted to let you know. But one day we couldn’t play it anymore, because our school blocked a bunch of game sites. And I had to figure out a way to bypass that because I needed to show my crush how good I was at the game, even though she didn’t care. So I figured out if I make a website on a free website maker like FreeWebs (which doesn’t exist anymore RIP) and embed the games onto each webpage, then we could all play because my school is definitley not blocking CoolestGamesEver15.freewebs.com, I think. If they were that’d be insane. So I made the site and everyone could play again and life was good.

And now many years later I’ve kind of had a full circle moment and I’ve made a site again, but this time it’s just my games. And it’s really cool. The games kind of suck but I’m proud of each and every one of them. Is proud the right word? Proud of my games? I don’t know, either way this janky website represents a part of my childhood that I want to share with the world. Especially kids and young adults that didn’t grow up playing flash games because flash is gone now, and I don’t know if you’ve been on MiniClip recently but it’s awful. The only games are 8 Ball Pool and Agar.io. And like they’re good games, whatever, but it’s not what MiniClip used to be. It’s pretty sad. But I get it, they gotta make money. But it’s still cringe.

BEFORE I GET TO THE END I JUST WANNA QUICKLY ADD IN Yeti Sports Pingu Throw, bro this game was insane to me as a kid. It’s a yeti hitting penguins like it’s baseball and then they bleed and die. You can’t find that on a console, that’s some flash game shit bro.

So anyway to end this all I hope you, YOU SPECIFICALLY READING THIS, enjoy the site. Although none of these games were made in flash I’m hoping to recreate the feeling of a classic flash game site. Because I made it with love :D and with some code. But mainly love. Love is the true ingredient. And I hope you love my games as much as I do, even if they are all bad. Anyway thanks for reading and have a great fucking day. <3
